In January, the IBO conducted a survey of schools offering the IBDP in 152 countries and just over 70% said that they anticipated being able to hold exams in school.

On February 4th, the IBO issued a statement confirming that a ‘dual route’ will operate for this year’s exams, due to be held in May. Route 1 is the examination route and is the current status quo; Route 2 is the calculated, non-examined route which will be employed if exams are cancelled. The final decision on which route UK schools will pursue is currently the subject of discussions between the IBO and the Department for Education and Ofqual.

It appears that the route taken will apply regionally and a decision from the UK government is expected on 22 February.
