History

Founded in 1886, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) falls under the Singapore Ministry of Education and operates as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. ACS(I) stands out for its pursuit of excellence and dedication to holistic, values-centered development, within a nurturing school community. Admission is based on merit. The institution boasts an enrollment of 2,800 students from Years 1 to 6 (Grades 7 to 12). Enrollment for Years 1 to 4 is exclusively for boys, while Years 5 to 6 are coeducational.

Academic Offerings

ACS (Independent) presents 2 academic pathways:
• A 4-year Express program leading to GCE O-Level.
• A 6-year Integrated Programme (IP) culminating in the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

The IP targets academically adept students (typically comprising the top 10% of the nation’s cohort) who would thrive in broader learning experiences throughout their Secondary and Junior College years. The academic calendar spans from January to December, divided into two semesters.

Overall Excellence

Across the Board Their students and alumni have represented the nation at the Olympic Games since 1964. The institution consistently achieves outstanding results across all domains. Its performance in the IBDP continues to establish global benchmarks. In the November 2022 examination, 100% of the cohort attained diplomas, with the maximum score being 45 points. The school’s sports, performing arts, and uniformed groups consistently excel in national school rankings and competitions. Additionally, their students consistently secure top positions in international competitions and Olympiads.

Co-Curricular Activities

ACS provides over 60 diverse Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) encompassing Sports and Games, Performing Arts, Clubs and Societies, as well as Uniformed Groups (UGs). Students in Years 1 to 4 are encouraged to engage in two CCAs, with one being a UG. Meanwhile, those in Years 5 to 6 actively participate in at least one CCA, with some opting for multiple activities based on their interests and time commitments. ACS expresses gratitude for the commendable performance of their CCAs, with students achieving accolades and championship titles across various categories, including (but not limited to):
